Anti-obesity gum

Research is underway into an appetite-suppressing gum that could be used to help combat obesity. The drug is intended to give patients the feeling that they are full, and could be available in injection form by 2012, but the long-term goals is to produce a soluble gum and nasal spray.

Alternatively, there's always the time honoured strategy of "eating less of the wrong thing, and exercising more…" ooh, wash my mouth out with soap and water.

Actually, whatever helps people sort out their weight problems and so save the National Health Service some cash is good news for everybody, so let's hope the gum is available sooner rather than later. And kudos to the Wellcome Trust for helping to fund the research project.
